The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling new romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy.

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.
But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?
From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

The plot to this book and the entire human trafficking scenario are being way over used! This book is very dull in comparison to 50 shades.

  • The Mister does not disappoint

First off I knew this would not be another Fifty Shades of Grey book. As alway E.L. James does not disappoint. The plot and twists and love story of these characters was amazing. I highly recommend this book!
  • Boring and poorly written

I really wanted to like this book. It was boring and very poorly written. It took me 2 weeks to get halfway through this book and I still hadn’t connected to the characters. There is so much description of the same thing. Changing from first person to third person narration just made it worse. I stopped reading it weeks ago. I paid good money for the book and feel like I should finish it, but I just don’t care to find out how the story ends.

This was probably the worst book I have ever read. It took me a few days to even get in to it. Starts off very slow and doesn’t get interesting until halfway through. The ending is terrible. There is no epilogue. It just ends. I wanted to know how the marriage played out with his family and maybe see them with children a few years later. But we get nothing.

Amazing book, though I found some details very familiar to the “fifty shades” books I didn’t mind it because at the end of the day it is from the same author. I wish there was more to this story..... great great story. Loved it.
  • Very disappointed

I was so excited to read the newest love story from E L James but this book was very difficult to get through, I didn't even bother with the last fifty pages.

I was profoundly disappointed in this book. The characters were undeveloped, the story lines thin, the love story superficial, and the dialogue was flat.
